Bridgerton Inspired Home Style Décor

Since the release of Bridgerton season two, we found ourselves admiring the decadence and elegance of their homes. In particular the Bridgerton family home style. From the pastel pink and blue colour schemes, the hints of gold, and the elaborately shaped furniture, the regency style is romantic and expensive looking.

Set in the early 1800s, homes reflected the status of the families that reside in them, flaunting their wealth through their choice of decorating. Whether it be dinner parties or lavish balls, the glamour of the regency era is unmatched. But for modern-day lovers of the show, it seems many of us also want to replicate the aesthetic.

With the rise of regency inspired homeware in shops, this aesthetic can be easy to replicate. The soft colours can make a room feel airy, perfect for spring and summer. Here are five simple and affordable ways you can subtly incorporate the Bridgerton style throughout your home.

Bridgerton Home Style

Gold Ornate Frames

Often the centre-piece of a room in the Bridgerton households are gold ornate framed oil paintings that add an elegant touch to an otherwise plain wall. To modernise this trend, you can replace the oil paintings with family photos, or other paintings/prints. Frames like this can be found in charity and vintage shops for an authentic vintage look; so long as you don’t mind searching through for the perfect gem.

Alternatively, for quick buying, vintage-inspired frames can be found in many shops. Buying new allows you to fit the frame to already printed photos or prints. This is such a simple way to add the same gold decadence to your walls, without re-painting, wallpapering, or breaking the bank; sure to impress the ton.

Candlesticks

Whether it be the golden, exaggerated candelabras that adorn the dining tables or even the candlesticks used for late-night wandering in the library, candlesticks are a big part of Bridgerton. Not only do they help create an ambient light at night, but they also help bring elegance to a room unlit during the day.

For a classic romantic look, gold candlesticks would be perfect for candlelit dinners. Carved pillar style candlesticks on the other hand help bring Greek and Roman influences into your home, a huge part of Regency-era decorating.

Greek and Roman-Inspired Statues

Regency style decorating is heavily influenced by Greek and Roman antiquity. This can be specifically seen in the Bridgerton series with its use of white stone statues; seen subtly throughout the house in small corners, as well as more visibly at balls with live actors painted to look and act like stone.

Of course, it’s unlikely that you’ll want to hire any fake statue performers any time soon, so perhaps the subtle approach is more reasonable. There has been a recent rise in shops selling statues inspired by real art, from the head of David by Michelangelo to the Venus de Milo statue. These can be incorporated into many different rooms due to their simplicity; yet can still add the Bridgerton chic.

Patterned Cushions

The use of florals and patterns in regency era decorating can be found in wallpapers, furniture, and bedding. One easy and simple way to easily add this aspect into your own home is through the use of cushions. You don’t need to replace your sofa for this trend, simply adding a cushion can give the same variety in fabric and pattern.

Stick to pastel colours like blue and pink, or silver and gold to create a more expensive look. If you’d rather go bright like the Featherington’s, yellows and greens would also work. You could even incorporate bee patterned cushions into your decorating, the bee motif being a key plot point and seen hidden in the furniture and accessories throughout the series.

Flowers

Perhaps one of the easiest, yet most used aspects of decorating in Bridgerton is its use of flowers. During the Regency era flowers held meaning, known as regency flower language. When flowers were given to loved ones or used to decorate a room, the colour and type of flowers were taken into consideration to help convey a fitting message.

This is a fun way to take inspiration from the regency era, buying flowers like so many of us do, but considering not only their appearance but also what they metaphorically say to any guests or family members that enter the room. Some colours you may want to consider include pink for grace and elegance, burgundy for simplicity and beauty, white for purity and innocence, or red for love and passion.
