Q & A with Aesthetically Perfect Skin

If you are a regular reader of Chic Style Collective you will know that we promote natural beauty. It’s all about looking good and feeling great in your own skin. That’s why we wanted to have a chat with Claire-Louise founder of Aesthetically Perfect Skin who believes that we should “Embrace imperfections and not mask them“.

Why did you decide to launch the brand?

Aesthetically Perfect Skin was founded in December 2020, the products initially went into production since then we have been designing, formulating, trialling and testing the products and we officially opened our first product’s soft launch to the public in June 2022.

We wanted to ensure the products were results driven and suitable for all skin types. We have gone under various testing (including being dermatologically approved) to ensure the products are not only kind to the skin but help the skin’s health visually and physically.

How important is it to embrace imperfections when it comes to skincare?

We live in a world where Instagram and social media promote filtered perfect skin. I wanted the brand to highlight individuality and our consumer to embrace their imperfections in their bare skin. Working with a dermatologist and owning a skin clinic I had many patients and friends who suffered from different skin types, concerns and diseases (i.e Psoriasis, eczema etc) I wanted them to feel empowered by our easy-to-use products.

What is your opinion on complicated multi-step skincare routines?

Working in skincare from a young age working with high-end retail brands, I felt that there was not a brand that sold versatile products that could be purchased and fitted directly into a consumer’s current skincare and beauty regime. From being a skincare specialist, I was always placed on targets to ensure I upsold all products within the brand, which often I didn’t agree with.

I wanted to start a brand that offered products which were clean, results-driven and targeted the consumer’s skin concerns which could be much more accessible and purchased to complement their current skin kit. My decision to create a line of ceramide capsules came as I have been guilty of overusing products. So creating the perfect high potency serum became the foundation of; Aesthetically Perfect Skin.

I wanted to ensure that the products of the line would easily accompany me and our customers as they come and go in their day-to-day lives.

Claire Louise, Founder

Are the serums recommended for all skin types?

Yes, and we ensure that the products can be cross-linked as each capsule has a range of different benefits when used alone or in conjunction with each other. It was really important for me that the brand was dermatologically tested across all skin types and results-driven.

I really wanted the products to be a representation of my knowledge over the years working within the skin/beauty industry and medically alongside dermatologists. Bringing these products to a retail market rather than keeping them in a cosmeceutical market.

Tell us more about your background in the beauty industry?

Working in skincare from a young age with high-end retail brands, I felt that there wasn’t a brand that sold versatile products. Being a skincare specialist, I was always placed on targets to ensure I upsold all products within the brand, which often I didn’t agree with.

I then moved over to working in a medical environment specialising in medical skin care and rejuvenation treatments where I refined and perfected my skill and knowledge, working with many recognised dermatologists. So therefore I wanted to start a brand that offered products which were clean, results-driven and targeted the consumer’s skin concerns which could be much more accessible and purchased to complement their current skin kit.

My decision to create a line of ceramide capsules came as I have been guilty of overusing products, by thinking applying more means it will work faster. So creating the perfect high potency serum became the foundation of; Aesthetically Perfect Skin.

How long after incorporating the serum into our routine can we expect to see results?

The skin texture is usually noticeable within the first couple of days of use. However as they are formulated from active ingredients the cell turnover is roughly 6-8 weeks, we recommend regular/daily use – this is when our customers would notice the best possible results.

Why do you think it is so important to use the right amount of product?

My decision to create a line of ceramide capsules came as I have been guilty of overusing products. So creating the perfect high potency single dose serum became the foundation of; Aesthetically Perfect Skin. We ensured that the product provided enough serum to cover the face, neck and decollete.

Can the capsule collection be used with makeup at the same time?

Yes, As the products were being used day and night I wanted to ensure that for instance make-up would apply over the top nicely and the active ingredients would penetrate and work through the day and not transfer.

When starting to use one of the serums of the collection, is there anything we should change about our own routines?

If you are currently using prescriptive actives we would recommend stopping using these. Any current skin routine being used our capsules are adaptable, we would only recommend that the 2.5% Retinol is gently introduced into your routine, and to avoid taking dietary supplements. Due to the high potency of our active ingredients, we do recommend that you use a high-protection SPF daily.

What does sustainability mean to you and what is your company doing to make a difference?

Ensuring that Aesthetically Perfect Skin contributes sustainably was at the core value when creating the brand and product line. As this is something that I look for when purchasing myself. We wanted to ensure that the products are not only kind to all skin types but also kind to customers’ pockets and the planet.

this is something that we have thought through at every step from ingredients to delivery to our customer’s doorstep, Ensuring our products are recycled and/or recyclable. We wanted to initially create a brand that would be an easy lightweight staple in your skincare routine and we are in the process of providing refillable options for our products to reduce waste.

When choosing our manufacturers and suppliers we wanted to work with companies that could guarantee that they would be able to achieve our goals of ensuring they align with safety testing and suitable working environments ensuring that these were not only cruelty-free but also vegan-friendly production.

This is something we wish to ensure we are completely transparent with when creating our relationships with our customers. We also would like to highlight that our products are free from parabens, gluten and fragrance – I have friends that suffered from sensitive skin and ensuring that my products were accessible to all this was also at the forefront.

As I was coming into the production of the Idea of Aesthetically Perfect Skin we had just entered into a global pandemic, in which I also had to re-evaluate the cost of living and the effect it was having on me and my family. When negotiating our price points there were various factors to bare in mind; we researched direct and aspirational competitor markets whilst ensuring we covered our cost price.

Initially, I knew we were going to be at a slightly higher price point than consumers usually purchase for off-the-shelf products – but as I was bringing a medical/cosmeceutical like the premium product to market yet I had to be mindful that I was bringing it to a retail commercial market which was also entering a recession.

Do you have any other tips to help achieve hydrated and radiant skin?

As an extension to our skincare range, we do recommend regular facials and exfoliating peels, plenty of sleep, water, a balanced diet and regular exercise. Should you lead a stressful life, find something to help balance as stress can be one of the biggest factors in ageing skin which is why we recommend for you to take time out to incorporate a skincare regime into your daily tasks.

This is why we wanted to produce a range of products which are luxurious so that you were starting and ending your day with a bit of self-care. As we do travel a lot, we do like to take our serums onboard and apply them under one of our new face masks.

Can we expect to see any new products or collections in the future?

Yes, we have a face mask launching later this year to compliment the capsule collection, with the opportunity to purchase a travel-size capsule option. As well to this we do have other products currently in production.
