1 What inspired you to start sharing your fashion, fitness, and lifestyle journey on Instagram?
I was always a consumer of fashion on social media to get outfit inspo, I’d post the odd outfit mirror selfie on my stories on my personal account and one of my friends Laura Drury aka ‘the Glam Shamrock’ who is an amazing content creator encouraged me to start posting more seriously. At first, it was a straight no. I was a new mum, life felt busy and I was kind of worried what people might think. But then something clicked and I thought, instead of wasting my time consuming content, why not create it?
2 As a mum and a digital creator, how do you balance motherhood with content creation — and what advice would you give to other mums trying to do the same?
Well, on top of being a mum & a content creator I actually have a full time job too. I’m a senior buyer in ‘Ai’ for a Lux British Automotive company. I have a 3 year old boy called Jesse who is in nursery full time which is both a blessing and a curse, a blessing as it allows me to work full time but my God I feel like I’m missing out [and] not being able to hang out with him more, especially in his early years. I plan my time quite well. Mon – Fri is strictly my day job as a buyer, in the evenings I’ll engage with my audience and find inspo which I’ll save, I also use the evenings to edit my reels and schedule them.
Then at the weekends I’ll spend 1-2 hours creating and filming 5 looks that inspired me. I love to recreate looks with items I already have, sometimes I’ll do a fashion hack, a DIY outfit or if I do buy something new I usually style it with old items and showcase myself wearing it in different ways.
The rest of the weekend is of course dedicated to family & friends. I aim to workout 3-4 times a week too and squeeze this in either early morning, in my lunch break or in the eve. For anyone looking to get into content creation I’d say don’t over think it. It doesn’t have to be polished, just start and you’ll evolve as you go. The community of fellow creators is amazing too and I’ve made some really lovely friends through it.

3 Your sustainable style tips are always so effortless and wearable. What does sustainable fashion mean to you personally, and how do you approach shopping more consciously?
Sustainable fashion isn’t linear. A lot of consumers tend to buy, wear and dispose. I think because a lot of fast fashion items are so cheap, customers don’t see the value in altering or repairing as its cheaper to just buy something new but if you buy cheap you buy twice right?
So instead, why not pay a bit more up front for quality pieces that will stand the test of time. Because you paid more for it you tend to have more of an emotional connection to it and your more inclined to look after it, repair it etc.
If it does reach the end of its lifespan with you, you can list it on a second hand site like vinted and probably get a decent payout for it. I love clothes and I’m not going to pretend I never buy fast fashion because that’s not true, But I do make a lot of mindful choices,
Nadia Francis Lowe explained: “I make sure I focus on keeping my clothes in use for as long as possible by re-wearing, recycling and repurposing.”
I love to rent outfits for occasions too whether it’s for a holiday or wedding, I also use vinted a lot for both selling & buying. I studied fashion design at college and uni so I’m always fixing, altering or repurposing old items and often share these on Instagram. Having my page has helped me dig into my own wardrobe and wear old items in new ways and I like sharing that with others to inspire them to do the same.
I could talk about this subject all day. I’m really passionate about it. Fashion brands have a lot they should be doing, but we as consumers can do a lot too. If I could give everyone just 1 take away from this, its; never ever throw clothes in the bin.
4 You’re known for showing how to dress tall women. What styling tricks or wardrobe essentials do you swear by for making fashion work for your height and body type?
Although I’m relatively tall it’s mainly my torso, so I really struggle with things like swimming costumes and Jumpsuits but I’ve found some brands and designs that have worked really well for me. Triumph known for their lingerie have just started doing swimwear and it’s the best fitting swimwear I’ve ever tried.
For jumpsuits I found a beautiful one from Karen Millen where it was only connected at the back and not the front so it enabled that extra give in the torso. If full length trousers come up short on me, I find good quality ones tend to have a deeper hem and I usually unpick the hem and let it down which is a great trick.

5 You often commute from Birmingham to London — has that influenced your content or personal style in any way?
I [lived] in London for 4 years in my 20’s working as a buyer for Harrods, I started off in Hackney Wick and loved the cool and laid back style but then later moved west to Putney which was a bit more polished. I think that must have had an influence on my style as I tend to mix classy and cool.
6 Fitness is clearly an important part of your lifestyle. How has staying active helped shape your confidence, both physically and mentally, especially post-motherhood?
I actually feel in the best shape now in my late 30s than I ever have in my life and I’ve always been pretty active. So, what’s changed? Well before I used to just turn up to a gym on my own and make up a work out and probably did it half heartedly. Now I do sports and training that I enjoy and I mix it up a lot so it never really feels like a workout. I run once a week, I do 2 strength classes a week and 1 reformer pilates a week.
I’ve also taken up golf & padel which are great fun too, it’s like a community, people push you beyond what you think you are capable of so not only am I getting fitter and stronger, my confidence is growing too and it’s a great way to destress.
7 You often share quick styling hacks and mum-life tips — what’s one underrated tip that your followers always thank you for?
“My favourite has to be digging into your spouse’s wardrobe. They have great basics like Tshirts, shirts and jumpers,” says Nadia Francis Lowe.
Once you open your mind to it you realise that you’ve just expanded your own wardrobe. Now for Christmas and birthdays, I buy my husband clothes that I know I’d like to wear too, it’s a win win.
8 Who are your biggest fashion influences, and how do you keep your content feeling fresh, relatable, and truly you in a crowded digital space?
My favourite content creator who is just right up my street is Mecah Wirht she’s just so effortlessly cool. My other faves who I often draw inspiration from are Jodie Wood, Blanca Arimany & Monikh Dale.
To keep content fresh I try to experiment and I like to try and create or recreate rather than copy. No new trend is born from doing the same as everyone else and you don’t stand out. A while back I posted about me wearing a sarong in the UK with a shirt for an evening look, Sarongs would usually only be seen on Brits on the beach on holiday. But since then I’m seeing a lot of people recreating that look which is awesome and rewarding.
9 How do you stay motivated when the juggle gets tough?
I think it’s easy to stay motivated when you’re enjoying what you’re doing. It doesn’t feel like a chore to me. It’s also easy to become demotivated when you compare yourself to others. I’m a strong believer of staying in your own lane and staying true to who you are and the rest will take care of itself.

10 What are your biggest goals or dreams for your brand and platform? Are there any projects or collaborations in the pipeline that you’re especially excited about?
Do you know, I don’t actually have any set goals. I started my page just over a year ago now for fun, if anything it gave me a creative outlet as my day job is so technical and strategic. I think if I set goals, there is a chance of failure so I much prefer to continue creating, learning, evolving and keeping an open mind and if opportunities arise then that’s a bonus for me.
I think I’d like to showcase more things that I make but aside from that I’d love to travel more and have some long term partnerships but who knows what the future holds – I’m excited for it.
