Everything you need to know about Chanel UK
Chanel is one of the most famous luxury fashion brands around. We look at how the French fashion house went from Paris to a storefront known all around the world including Chanel UK. Born in Saumur France, Gabrielle Bonheur ‘Coco Chanel’ began her fashion journey and the start of her brand with the opening of Modes Chanel. A hat boutique which made her name more well-known, with actresses from that era wearing her designs. Chanel relocated and moved to Normandy where she opened her second boutique, which explored a new world of jersey sportswear.
It encouraged women to try something new and explore a new way of presenting themselves. Sparking a positive effect for women, this heightened Chanel’s fame to become a well-known French fashion designer. As her fame rose in 1915 Chanel officially opened the brand’s headquarters in Paris. A few years following the opening of HQ Chanel, the French fashion designer chose to create fragrances.

This is how Chanel No.5 was born, with this being the first scent that was released its popularity grew with Marilyn Monroe and other celebrities from that era. Chanel believed the number five was her lucky number, and named the fragrance after this thought.
Chanel after Coco
After Coco Chanel passed away in 1971, the new creative director Karl Lagerfeld was announced. He quickly began adding his unique inspiration to the French fashion brand, starting by revisiting the ready-to-wear line making Chanel’s name a house icon.
In the early 2000s, the luxury brand Chanel was honoured by New York’s Metropolitan Museum, with an art exhibition of the French fashion designer’s history made by Chanel. Chanel had broadened the brand from starting makeup, fragrances, bags and skincare ranges. She was creating statement pieces for women, which are well-loved by celebrities and fans worldwide.
Chanel has had many different brand ambassadors over the years, from actresses such as Keira Knightly to Penelope Cruz. The brand also has had famous musicians Willow Smith to global K-pop singer Jennie. Showing their openness to diversity and exploring a variety of styles.
The current brand ambassador for the French fashion brand is Riley Keough. The new house ambassador is a director, American actress and producer. She will be the face of the new Spring/Summer 2024 campaign, which will be a collection that is by Virginie Viard. This is the creative director for this ready-to-wear collection. Chanel UK the legacy
Over time the fashion brand Chanel has created many different pieces, which include iconic handbags and statement perfumes. What has been quite a standout piece of fashion, is the boucle jacket. This is still incorporated into Chanel’s fashion lines, the famous suit jacket has been worn by inspirational women such as Jackie Kennedy and Princess Diana.
The jacket was made to be comfortable for women, but still represents a look for important business. Whilst making this fashionable throughout the years the style of the jacket has been experimented with, by using different colours or lengths.
The French fashion designer’s other statement piece which is a must-have, is the Chanel diamond quilted handbag. Chanel wanted an easier way of carrying personal items without it having to be a clutch bag. This made the fashion brand designer think of a more modern way to change this need for women.
The quilted shoulder bag was then created and added with the iconic metal straps. The evolution of the Chanel bag has seen brand-new designs and looks throughout the years, showing its versatility and popularity.
