Motivation Monday

Where to begin

In order to make long-lasting and meaningful changes in your life, you can’t attempt to change everything all at once. To be able to commit to a healthier lifestyle, you may start incorporating better habits gradually, such as going on a run on the weekends and adding more fruits and veggies to your diet.

If you slowly adopt healthier choices it is more likely that these will become lasting habits than if you expect to change your lifestyle completely from one day to another. Being mindful of the choices you take in your daily life and how they may affect your body and mind is a great way to begin to take better care of yourself.

Changing your Mindset

Leading a healthier life should not be viewed as a sacrifice or a horrible punishment to endure. It is a way to show your body that you care about it and its well-being and will therefore do your best to take care of it. First of all, we should consider the rewards that a healthier life will bring us.

Living healthier reduces your risks for many illnesses and will make you feel great inside and out. Not to mention that exercising regularly can lift your mood and is positive for your mental health. Gaining control of your life by adopting a healthier lifestyle will reward your body and mind in endless ways.

Monday’s Don’t Suck That’s Just Your Mindset

It’s Okay to Fail

A healthy life is not about never eating a burger again or about cutting out sugar completely if you have a sweet tooth. A healthy life is about balance, not about restricting yourself to a point of misery. So, don’t be too hard on yourself and remember that being healthy is something that should make you happy. Remember that you have to find what works for you, and this doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Eating healthy does not mean you have to eat food you don’t enjoy or that you can never have a slice of cake. Most importantly, it doesn’t mean you have to go hungry. There are many options of delicious and healthy foods that you can incorporate into your diet if you decide to make the effort.

Take Care of your Mind

We must not forget that in order to lead a healthier life we have to take care of our minds. This may be as simple as taking a break from social media. It can also mean making time to read that book you have been putting off for a while.

Just like everything else in life, this will not be the same for everyone. So however this looks like for you, taking care of your mind is necessary to keep yourself motivated and in tune with your objectives.

Examples of things you can do to take care of your mind include:

  • Meditating
  • Learning something new
  • Asking for help when necessary
  • Sleeping well
  • Spending time with people you love

Celebrate your Progress

In order to keep motivated, it is necessary to acknowledge your efforts. Be grateful to yourself for deciding to live a healthier life and recognize that it is not something easy. Making this decision comes with its challenges, but at the end of the day, remember that what you are doing has a purpose and you will benefit your life.

Don’t spend all your time focusing on what you are yet to achieve, stop and reflect on what you have already accomplished. This will give you the impulse to keep going forward with your resolution.

Finally, finding support from friends and family that encourage you to make healthier decisions is also crucial to keep you motivated. Surrounding yourself with people who cheer on your bad habits will only make it harder to leave those behind.

Be patient with yourself and remember why you decided to live healthier and how you benefit from it. With the right motivation, you are able to achieve all of your goals.

Consistency + Time + Patience = Success
