New York Fashion Week A/W22 Roundup
New York Fashion Week A/W22 showcased incredible fashion and thrilling moments: ranging from including the metaverse in their runways to showcasing new or returning fashion trends. New York Fashion Week A/W22 continued to be diverse and inclusive, employing plus-size models to show off the gorgeous collections. Of course, there was an André Leon Talley Kaftan Exhibit at The Fashion Gallery celebrating the legacy of the late designers who recently passed away.

Proenza Schouler opened the shows at this year’s New York Fashion Week A/W22 and stunned the public with loose-fitting clothes for their collection this year. Some well known and anticipated models walked the runway. Bella Hadid stunned in a sparkly black dress, walked for Michael Kors. There were other faces though, that particularly showcased great beauty. One of the most talked-about models walking for LaQuan Smith was Julia Fox, after recently splitting from Kanya West. LaQuan gave way to the classiest outfits on the runway and had Julia Fox starting off their collection showcase, featuring the ultimate revenge dress with strategic cut-outs and high hemlines.

Carolina Herrera showcased the new Wes Gordon’s collection showcasing a repertoire of gorgeous and most colourful dresses. Many greats such as Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour highly praised the collection stating there were “beautiful, dramatic and sensational evening clothes” when Carolina Herrera was ruling the runway. Actress/singer Sabrina Carpenter was seen with a beautiful, floral Carolina Herrera dress to watch the event as well.

Jason Wu’s Collection, featured elegant bows in their clothing. Brandon Maxwell, showcased classy eveningwear and last but certainly not least, Tia Adeola, included models of all ages and sizes to walk the runway in their extravagant and silkiest outfits of the season.
One of the most impressive details of this year’s New York Fashion Week A/W22 was the introduction of the metaverse and NFTs, where models wore a mask to showcase some brands’ NFTs and digital drawings. Jonathan Ashbrook took home the prize for best NFT on Friday night.
Jonathan Simkhai showcased his new collection digitally for the first time in the fashion week ever, using digital models to showcase his repertoire of mainly party clothing. Gabba Gallery also showcased their collection “Imitation of Christ”, a fall/winter 2022 collection for the metaverse exclusively.This year’s fashion week showed incredible technological advancements and forward-thinking brands’.
