Coach x Brain Dead Collaboration 2026

Coach has launched a collaboration with Brain Dead — the Los Angeles-based streetwear and artist collective known for its disruptive graphics, subculture references, and the specific kind of chaotic energy that either speaks to you immediately or leaves you completely cold.

The new Coach x Brain Dead collection blends Coach’s Americana heritage with Brain Dead’s art-school, punk aesthetic, resulting in an array of mascots, patches, faux souvenirs, fuzzy textures, and sticker graphics plastered over the brand’s mainstay bags including the Tabby, Waverly and Empire. The collection launched globally on 29 May following an immersive launch event in New York’s Meatpacking District — a theme park-esque party featuring a surprise 80-second flashmob-style runway show, with models cutting organically through the crowd in front of guests including Troye Sivan and Lourdes Leon.

Is it my favourite collaboration of the year? Honestly, no. It is not the CSC aesthetic in its purest form the patches and cartoon mascots and sticker-heavy detailing are more Y2K revival than considered investment dressing. But it is a cute collaboration, and I mean that genuinely rather than dismissively. The pieces have a fun, nostalgic energy that I can appreciate even if it is not the direction I would choose for myself. The collection draws on Tokyo street style and a sense of playful nostalgia — and that nostalgia is real. There is something very early 2000s about the whole thing, in the best possible way if you were conscious during that era and have affectionate memories of it.

The bags are where the collaboration earns its place. The Coach craftsmanship is still underneath all the Brain Dead embellishment — the leather, the construction, the silhouettes that have been building Coach’s reputation since 1941. The decoration is layered over something genuinely well-made, which is the detail that separates a worthwhile collaboration from a promotional exercise.

The Three Pieces Worth Having

Coach x Brain Dead Soft Tabby Shoulder Bag 26 in Signature Jacquard With Patches

The Tabby is the Coach bag that has earned the most consistent fashion editorial attention over the past three years — and the Brain Dead version in signature jacquard with patches is the most wearable interpretation in the collection. The patches add personality without overwhelming the silhouette. If you were going to buy one piece from this collaboration, the logic for making it this one is clear: you get the Coach Tabby construction, which is excellent, with the Brain Dead energy layered on top rather than embedded in it. The bag that works for the CSC reader who wants to try the collaboration without fully committing to the maximalist direction.

The cleaner version — the signature jacquard without the patches, which gives you the Brain Dead collaboration feel with considerably more restraint. This is the version I would choose personally. The jacquard itself carries enough visual interest to read as a collaboration piece; the absence of patches makes it wearable across more of the wardrobe without the bag becoming the entire outfit. The version for the woman who wants to dip a toe rather than dive in.

Coach x Brain Dead Empire Carryall Bag 21 With Kachi Mouse and Charm

The wider collection introduces fictional mascot characters named Kachi, Xerx and Zilly, reinforcing the project’s theme park-inspired universe. The Empire Carryall with the Kachi Mouse and charm is the piece in this collection that most fully commits to the Brain Dead universe — and it is the piece that will divide opinion most cleanly. If the playful nostalgia of the collaboration speaks to you, this is the one that delivers it most completely. It is genuinely fun. The mouse charm hanging from the handle is the detail that makes it feel like a collector’s item rather than a handbag. Whether that is a feature or a problem depends entirely on what you want from your accessories.

The Honest Verdict

The Coach x Brain Dead collection brings together Coach’s heritage craft and Brain Dead’s graphic point of view in a collaboration made for self-expression. Coach creative director Stuart Vevers described it well: “What I love about this collection is that it celebrates individuality — the way people personalise things, collect things, and become emotionally attached to them over time.”

That spirit of attachment is genuine — and it is what makes the collaboration worth knowing about even if it is not your aesthetic. The CSC reader who remembers the early 2000s with affection, who appreciates a bag that looks like something and not nothing, and who has a playful side to her wardrobe that the investment dressing pieces are not always asked to carry — this collaboration is for her. Buy the Tabby in the cleaner jacquard. Add the mouse charm if you are feeling brave. Wear it with the most minimal outfit you own. That contrast is exactly what makes it work.

The collection is available now at Coach and exclusively at Selfridges.
