1 How has life changed since leaving Hollyoaks and are there any plans to ever go back?
I’ve found a freedom that I’ve never had in life, freedom to express my opinions, freedom to make plans without asking permission, financial freedom, freedom to express my femininity and sexuality, freedom in my own skin, and a confidence that I didn’t have before turning 40.
I think, given the way they ended my time on the show, firstly I don’t think there would ever be an opportunity to return, and even if there was, I would be doing myself an injustice returning to a workplace that cared so little about my happiness and well being.
2 What do you love about fashion?
I love that you can choose to be whoever you want to be at any time by playing dress up, that we get to make our inner child happy by putting on the bright colours and sequins or feel like a boss bitch by putting on a power suit and a pair of Louboutins. There are no rules when it comes to fashion in my opinion, other than what you’re wearing should make you feel happy and alive, the clothes you wear can literally change your mood and how you approach the day.
3 Who is your style inspiration?
I’ve always loved Sienna Miller’s boho chic, she’s just so effortlessly cool, I like Hayley Bieber’s style too and Blake Lively’s. I find most of my style inspo on Pinterest though, I’ll happily scroll and pin to my fashion likes board and then try to recreate an outfit with pieces I already have in my wardrobe.
4 What are your favourite high-street brands?
I find the high street a little disappointing nowadays, I miss Topshop and find some high street brands overpriced for the quality. Zara is my high street to go to, for other bits and pieces I’ll either invest in a high-end designer or I’ll grab bits from the likes of ASOS and H&M.
Online shopping is how most of us shop nowadays, myself included, Dancing Leopard do some stunning pieces in gorgeous prints and colours that you won’t find anywhere else, Daniel Footwear does high-quality footwear that rivals designer pieces, for lingerie, I always go Ann Summers, they just tick all the boxes, fit, style, price point, for party wear I love the brand The Party Edition London.
I’m a big fan of fashion influencer Lorna Luxe’s clothing line L.A.Space, I’ve bought a couple of coats from her brand and the quality is stunning and the pieces so timeless, I know I’ll wear them year to year.
5 What are your favourite luxury brands?
I love Chanel, I invested in a Chanel 19 handbag last year as a treat to myself. I tend to buy mainly bags and shoes from designer brands, I love Dior, YSL and Chloe. I’m also a fan of Mulberry bags, although still pricey, the quality is beautiful and a good bag will last you years, so money to wear ratio is really good!

6 What does your daily beauty routine look like and what products do you use?
I put my skin in the hands of Dr Esho of Cultskin, I go to him every 3 months for a Botox and Profhilo top-up and I try to have regular facials to hydrate my skin. I wear Murad City skin age defence broad spectrum spf50 every day without fail.
I’m currently using Skinwork treatment cleanse skin cleanser, I swear by Simple eye make-up remover, it’s the best in my opinion to get rid of all eye makeup inc waterproof, I use pHFormula CR recovery in the morning before moisturiser and A.C.T.I.V.E Formula at night.
The Tan Luxe super glow hyaluronic self-tan serum is my secret weapon in giving my face a natural glow. I use a Skin Cycles hydrating face mask when my skin needs an extra boost or when I’m feeling a little run down. Bondi Sands 1 hr express self-tanning mousse gives me an all-over even tan that’s super easy to apply and is pretty foolproof.
For my lashes, I swear by NYK1 lashforce eyelash growth serum, the difference in lash thickness and length that this achieves by just popping on morning and night is insane!!
In terms of hair products, I swear by Living Proof, their dry shampoo is the absolute best!!
7 How would you prepare for a special fashion event
I’d make sure my hair colour and cut were freshly done, I go to Calum at Terence Paul in Hale, he is the absolute king of hair and colour, my hair can be tricky as it’s very thick and takes colour quickly but with Calum, I just trust him to do whatever he wants to my hair and I’m always thrilled with the results, my hair has never been better.
I’d make sure my nails were done, I go to Hayley at Nail Noir in Altrincham, her nail art is insane!!! I go to Absolutely Perfect by Ashleigh in Alderley Edge for my pedicure and LVL lash lift and tint. I’d do my own tan at home using Bondi Sands and make sure my skin was hydrated, at the moment I love Nuxe Paris Huile Prodigieuse body oil, it smells incredible.
8 What is your most treasured item in your wardrobe?
I have a few, a pair of boots that were my mum’s in the 80s, they are battered and not really fit for wearing anymore, I’ve had them reheeled a few times, I can’t bear to part with them. A Dolce & Gabbana coat that I bought when I was about 18 from Selfridges.
I remember it cost a lot of money, at the time around £500, but my mum assured me it would be an investment piece and she was right. I wear it every winter and still love it as much as when I first bought it. My Chanel 19 handbag, felt so special to buy a gift for myself and I know it’s another investment piece that will last for a long time, in fact, I could sell it for more than I bought it for already!
9 Do you have any fashion regrets?
Not really, I think if I loved something at the time of wearing it then it shouldn’t really be a regret, I do see some fashions rolling back around again now from the 90s that I just won’t go near again like Capri trousers and the massive belts from the 00s, but when I wore those the first time around I loved them and felt great wearing them, so why would I regret it.
10 What is the best fashion advice you have been given?
‘Buy cheap, buy twice’, that’s why I think it’s better to spend a little more if you can afford to on staple wardrobe items like a good coat, a nice bag and some good quality footwear. Cheap fast fashion doesn’t last and most of it ends up going to landfills which is a disaster for the planet.
Buying pieces that will last and that you will keep coming back to just makes more sense. I also love sites like Vinted where you can find some great pieces for much cheaper than in-store or online, that would otherwise go to waste.
So what can we expect to see from Sarah Jayne in 2025?
This year I qualified as both an advanced pole fitness instructor and an Intuitive Psychology coach, I want to combine the 2 skills to create a space to empower and liberate women from the social expectations that are pushed upon us, a space that allows women to express and explore their femininity without judgement or shame, and allows them to find their authenticity and truth.
